Well-known actor and BJP leader Joy Banerjee has passed away. He breathed his last today i.e. on 25th August at 11:35 am in a private hospital in Kolkata. Joy Banerjee had diabetes and COPD complaints and was admitted to the hospital on 15th August due to difficulty in breathing, but was then discharged. But on Monday his condition suddenly deteriorated and he passed away. The stars of the entire Bengali cinema industry are shocked by this news and there is mourning in the industry.
Joy Banerjee was a well-known name not only in the acting world but also in the political world. He had also contested the MP election twice on the ticket of Bharatiya Janata Party. Joy Banerjee was suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease i.e. COPD for a long time and also had diabetes. He was admitted on 15th August, but was then discharged. After going home, his condition deteriorated again, after which he was admitted again on August 17 and put on ventilator and he died this morning.
Who was Joy Banerjee?
Joy Banerjee was a well-known Bengali actor and BJP leader. He had contested the parliamentary elections twice on a BJP ticket. He was born on 23 May 1963. Joy Banerjee started his acting career with the famous film ‘Aparupa’ and was successful in attracting the attention of the audience with his first film itself. After this, he worked in many popular films, including films like ‘Milan Tithi’, ‘Abhaagini’, ‘Hirak Jayanti’, ‘Jeevan Maran’, ‘Tumi Kar’, ‘Deepshikha’ and ‘Pennam Kolkata’.
Fought election against Shatabdi Roy
However, he has not appeared in any film in the last few years and he gradually distanced himself from films and became active in the field of politics. He contested against Shatabdi Roy in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and again on a BJP ticket against Trinamool Congress MP Sajda Ahmed in 2019. However, he faced defeat both times and then in 2021 he also distanced himself from politics. He officially announced that he will no longer represent the BJP.
