A wave of mourning in Indian cricket before Asia Cup 2025, young player Farid Hussain passed away
Just before the start of Asia Cup 2025, the Indian cricket world has suffered a severe shock. Farid Hussain, a young cricketer from Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, died in a road accident on 20 August. The accident happened when Farid had left on his two-wheeler for some personal work. Farid’s bike collided with a person suddenly opening the car door and he was seriously injured. The entire incident was captured in a nearby CCTV camera.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Team India for Asia Cup 2025 on 19 August. This time the tournament will be played in T20 format and India will play its first match against the United Arab Emirates on 10 September. The command of the team has been handed over to Suryakumar Yadav, while Shubman Gill has been made the vice-captain.
But even before this celebration, the untimely demise of Farid Hussain has put the entire cricket community in mourning.
