37 sixes and 349 runs, an impossible record was made in T20 cricket, bowlers kept suffering helplessly for hours.
T20 format is being well liked in modern cricket. In a 20-20 over match, the noise of fours and sixes is at its peak. But year after year this format is becoming dreadful for the bowlers. You can guess this from the incredible record of 349 runs made in the T20 format. That figure made in the T20 format which becomes difficult for any team to make even in ODIs. But in a T20 match, the sixes and fours wreaked such havoc that the team easily crossed the 300 mark.
One can see more than one exciting matches in IPL. But till now no team in this league has been able to touch the 300 mark. The highest score of IPL is 287 runs which was made by the Sunrisers Hyderabad team in IPL 2024. But in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, there was also a team which did such a feat in the T20 format which is hard to believe.
In December 2024, a match was being played between Baroda and Sikkim. In this match, Baroda won the toss and decided to bat first. Openers Shashwat Rawat and Abhimanyu Singh made a blast as soon as they came. Shashwat scored 43 runs in just 16 balls with the help of 4 sixes and as many fours, while Abhimanyu hit 53 runs in 17 balls. 5 sixes and 4 fours were seen in Abhimanyu’s innings.
After the wickets of the openers fell, it was a matter of relief that Bhanu thrashed the bowlers of Sikkim. Bhanu played an innings of 134 runs in just 51 balls, which included 15 sixes and 5 fours. Not only this, Shivalik Sharma at number four scored 55 runs in 17 balls, which included 6 sixes and 3 fours. Apart from this, the number five batsman also played an innings of 50 runs in 16 balls, which included 6 sixes and 2 fours.
Sikkim bowlers kept looking towards the sky while Baroda was batting. This became a world record in this match. Till date, a total score of 349 runs has not been seen in any T20 match. Now it will be interesting to see how long this record remains in world cricket.
