222000000 tonnes of gold found in the poorest state of the country, now India will again become a golden bird
Whenever the name of Bihar is taken, the image of poverty, migration and backwardness often comes to the fore. But now is the time to change that thinking. The land which we considered far from development, has such a treasure hidden in its womb that can change the fate of the whole country.
The recent report of the Geological Survey of India (GSI) has surprised everyone. According to the report, Bihar has the country’s largest gold ‘resource’ – about 222.88 million tonnes. This figure is a ray of new hope not only for Bihar, but for the whole of India.
Bihar tops the gold map
Bihar: 222.88 million tonnes
Rajasthan: 125.91 million tonnes
Karnataka: 103 million tonnes
However, it is important to understand here that there is a difference between ‘resource’ and ‘reserve’. Resource means how much gold is present under the ground, while reserve is the part that can be extracted according to the existing technology and cost.
Challenge of technology, path of hope
The gold present in Bihar may be trapped at such a depth or in hard rocks that it is very expensive and difficult to extract it with today’s technology. This is the reason why Karnataka, where the reserve is more, still remains India’s largest gold producing state.
But science is progressing every day. With the advent of new mining techniques, the day is not far when this treasure can be extracted from the land of Bihar.
India’s gold policy may get a new turn
India is one of the largest gold buyers in the world. In the second quarter of 2025, the country’s gold reserve reached a record level of 880 tonnes. If Bihar’s gold starts being extracted commercially, then India will have to reduce its dependence on foreign gold.
A dream that can become a reality
Bihar today stands at a turning point from where its future can change completely. This gold is not just a metal, but a symbol of hope that can bring a sparkle in the eyes of every Bihari youth.
Bihar is now going to write not just the story of history and struggle but a new saga of prosperity and possibilities.
